The Board has been asked this question: Can resident tenants be proxies for a member-in-good-standing?
Board’s Response: Article V, Section 2 of the current Bylaws simply refers to a “person” holding the proxy and does not specifically require that the person be a Member in Good Standing, so for now a resident Tenant can hold a proxy for a Member in Good Standing. One of the proposed bylaw changes suggests changing that so that only MGS can hold a proxy. The last sentence of the Article says each person present at the meeting is allowed to vote only one proxy in addition to their own vote. Since a Tenant can’t vote “their own vote”, that means the Tenant, or any other non-MGS person, can only vote the proxy they might hold for a single Member in Good Standing. Proxies will be checked at the meeting to make sure that the grantor of the proxy is a Member in Good Standing. Comments are closed.
